Rubber Bumper Mounts
Bumper mounts also known as buffer mounts are used as a rubber buffer to effectively limit movement of equipment or machine components. Through the damping of the rubber in the mount, a high degree of energy absorption is achieved. The rubber is stiffer under dynamic conditions compared to static or pseudo static loading and because of this, more energy is absorbed for a given deformation. Bumper mounts consist of a cylindrical rubber body bonded to a square baseplate of steel. Each corner of the baseplate has a fixing hole. Special high-hysteresis rubber compound is used to ensure as much energy absorption as possible. The volume of the rubber is used at optimum efficiency. For new machine developments simpler designs and lighter calculated forces can be considered, enabling a lower cost.
Bumper mounts are also effective in neutralizing large shock loads and allow soft impact with increasing bending and spring constant which results in the smooth absorption of a large impact force. Bumper mounts dampen noise and accept a large load deformation with practically no friction. They also do not generate noise at the instant of contact, are easy to mount and require no maintenance.
